Bobby Lee Burley, youngest son of Major and Paige Burley, was born on November 15, 1942 in Spotsylvania County Virginia.
The family moved to Washington DC, where Bobby received his education. After moving back to Virginia, he met and married Evelyn Joyce Jackson and to that union was born three children. Bobby was a very talented young man----mastering musical instruments, especially the guitar and the harmonica. There was not one instrument that he did not try to play; and not one automobile that he could not take apart and put back together. He was a Jack-of-all-trades. He was quick on his feet dancing with skill and smooth moves, sliding and gliding across the floor--very acrobatic. He even dabbled in styling the ladies' hair, giving them finger waves. He was a man of many talents.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Hattie Burley Ellis; brothers, William, Melvin, and Charles Burley; brothers-in-law, China Coleman and Richard Ellis.
He is survived by his three children: Patricia Diane Burley Roberts of Camp Springs MD, Morgan Lee Burley(Lillian) and Douglas Dean Burley of Spotsylvania VA; three grandsons, Roger Lee Burley, Travis Doug Burley, and Darnell Antonio Beale; two grand daughters, Vanessa Nadine Roberts and Deanna Marie Johnson and great grandson, Aiden Isaiah Roberts. Bobby is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Jean Jackson and husband James who he resided in Louisa County VA, and Loretta Ann Coleman of Spotsylvania VA; sisters-in-law, Christine Burley of Spotsylvania VA and Emma Burley of Northern VA and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Although he was sometimes down from his illness, there was still a joke or two that would sometimes creep out with a burst of joyous laughter.
Funeral Service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Temple of Deliverance (HCOG) 5756 Zachary Taylor Highway, Mineral, VA 23117 with Elder Lynn W. Beanum, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
