Our beloved Betty Jane Henson Blue departed this earthly world on Tuesday, January 25th at Cedars Nursing facility in Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born on November 22, 1940 in Mineral, Louisa County, Virginia to the late Mildred Ann Henson (mother) and Grant Shelton (father). She was the youngest of two siblings. She was baptized at Rising Sun Baptist Church where she was a devoted member throughout her life.

Betty was reared in Louisa County where she attended the public school system. Her passion for styling hair led her to the District of Columbia where she graduated from the Madame C. J Walker Cosmetology School. She spent many years as a hairstylist in the DC metropolitan area and in Virginia. You were not allowed to leave her styling chair until she felt that your hair was perfect. Though Louisa County was sweltering hot in August, her clients' hair was stellar for church revivals at the Rising Sun Baptist Church.

Betty met the love of life Mr. Freddie Blue. They were married on July 1st in 1972. They enjoyed over 40 year of marital bliss. Freddie preceded her in death in July of 2013-. They were often seen working on house projects at their residence; cruising the rural highways of Louisa County in their class antique cars and gardening. They were also avid dog lovers and the parents to several dogs over the course of their lives.

Betty is survived by one brother, James Henson (Springdale, MD); one sister-in-law; Everlean Henson (Springdale, MD); one former sister in-law Joyce Henson (Wheaton, MD); one niece, Valerie Henson (Hanover, VA); one nephew, Trumaine Henson (Laurice Henson) (Woodbridge, ViA); one great niece, Adrienne Henson (Woodbridge, VA); 2 nephews, Zacari and Landan (Woodbridge, VA); and a host of many other relatives and friends.
