Bernadette Oliver slipped peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Prince George County Community Hospital, after a lengthy illness. "Bernie", as many called her, was born on leap year, February 29, 1948, to the late Walter Studevent and Marguerite Thurston Studevent.  Her brother, Walter Clayton Studevent (Junior), also preceded her in death. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Enoch Oliver and from this union came two children, Michelle and Lawrence.

She was a lifetime resident of Washington, DC where she completed her education in DC Public Schools. She worked as a courthouse typist for the Washington, DC court system.

As a youth, Bernadette spent her summers in Louisa, Virginia on the farm of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Thurston.  During one of these summers, Bernadette confessed her faith, was baptized and became a member of Wayland Baptist Church. Bernadette was an avid Bible reader . She also enjoyed watching movies and completing cross word puzzles.  She was a great debater and rarely allowed anyone to out debate her. Her sense of humor would brighten your day; even asking for Popeye's chicken the day before her passing.  Bernie would always make time for her younger cousins and would play games and listen to music.  She would not only win every Monopoly game, but she would always win by an enormous margin.

Bernadette leaves to cherish fond memories one daughter, Michelle Oliver; one son, Lawrence (Larry) Oliver; three grandchildren, Aiesha, Elijah, and Shomari Oliver, all of Washington, DC; one aunt, Sadie T. McLaughlin of Louisa, Virginia and a host of other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to aunt, Sadie McLaughlin, cousins, Avis Brown and Minister Carla Scott, all of Louisa, Virginia and cousin, Sylvia Allen of Maryland, who was devoted and helpful during Bernie's illness.
