Barbara Mae Moore-Sawyer, of Louisa, Virginia, slipped away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville , Virginia.
She was born March 25, 1950 to Julia Green-Moore and the late Henry L. Moore, Sr.
Barbara's early childhood was spent in Washington, DC where she attended elementary school. In 1962, she relocated to Louisa County with her family where she continued her education. She joined Rising Sun Baptist Church and participated in their youth activities. She was employed in various jobs, including her last job at Elk Creek Country Store until the time of her illness.
Barbara was united in marriage to James E. Sawyer on November 25, 1967 and from this union they had one daughter, Tywanda Sawyer-Carter.
She was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Her memories will be cherished by her husband, James E. Sawyer, a daughter, Tywanda Sawyer- Carter; two grandsons, Marco D. and Byran A Sawyer-Carter, her mother, Julia Moore; three sisters, Emma Moody (Charles), Teresa Courtney (Melvin)and Sandra Sawyer (Leroy); three brothers, Henry L. Moore, Jr., Mchael J. Moore and Alvin Moore (Janice); brothers-in-law, Linwood Sawyer (Yvonne) and Joseph Sawyer (Louise); a sister-in-law, Geraldine Sawyer; three aunts, Jackie Moore-Saunders, Gertrude Moore and Annie D. Moore; thirteen nieces, fifteen nephews, devoted cousins, Deloris Thompson and Eunice Lewis (Ron); a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral was held 1 P.M. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Rising Sun Baptist Church in Mineral, Virginia. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Rev. Frederick Sales, officiating.
