After a well spent life, Mrs. Avis H. Wreen, 90 of Gordonsville, closed her eyes for that eternal slumber, Wednesday, February 28, 2007, in the Hospice of the Piedmont, Charlottesville, Virginia. Avis was born August 11, 1916, in Ruckersville, Virginia to the union of the late Lester and Annie Brown Harris Carter. She received her formal education in the Washington, D.C. public schools and graduated from Armstrong High School. Later in life, she completed courses in beauty culture school in Charlottesville. Avis leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters-in-law, Lucy Wrenn of Arrington, Virginia and Elizabeth (Bunny) Wrenn of Charlottesville; one granddaughter, Erica Wrenn of Harrisonburg, Virginia; Carvie and Joseph Mason families of Louisa; two devoted cousins, Novella Freitas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Inez Inman of Orange; several loyal and dedicated friends, among whom are, Connie Fountain, Norman and Phyliss Brown, all of Gordonsville, and Penny Bosworth of Charlottesville; two sisters-in-law, Lottie Wills of Antioch, Tennesse and Alzata Wrenn of Oxon Hill, Maryland; one brother-in-law, Tucker Wills of Antioch, Tennesse; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at First Baptist Church 102 Meadow Avenue Louisa, Virginia, with the Reverend Dr. Thomas J. Wooden, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery.
