Asterline Raines, 81, of Mineral Virginia, rejoined the lord on October 23, 2011, at her home in Mineral.

Asterline, also known as Esther, was born on August 5th, 1930, in Mineral. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Curtis Johnson of Mineral and the wife of Walter Raines of Athens, Georgia. She was preceded in death by brothers, Junior Johnson, Reginald Johnson, Mckinley (Mac) Johnson and one sister, Estelle Booker.

Esther is survived by her husband and four children, Edward Dabney, Jeffery Raines, Debora Raines-Johnson and Brenda Byrd; two siblings , Alice Daniel and Nevada Davis; one brother-in-law Jamie Daniel; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Stroud, Candida Johnson and Ruth Jones; one daughter in-law, Jane Dabney; one son-in-law Raymond Byrd; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Esther was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Mineral, Virginia. The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, October 29th at Laurel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Carpenter, officiating. The interment will following in the Johnson Family Cemetery.
