Deacon Arthur Lee Davis Sr. entered this world on July 12, 1946, to the late Ruby Davis Sr. and Claudia Morris Davis. He attended A.G. Richardson but was drafted to Vietnam, where he received his diploma while serving his country. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and later went on to work for Stone and Webster (North Anna Power Station) in Mineral, Virginia.
Arthur Lee married the love of his life, Susie Brooks Hiter (Sugar Bae), and remained blissfully married for over 40 years until Susie received her heavenly wings. To this union, they added two sons, Arthur Lee Davis Jr. and Quantin Davis. Arthur Lee served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and a faithful member of Eagle Baptist Church, where he sang in the Senior Choir. Some will remember him by his favorite song, "The Gospel Train."
He and his beloved Sugar Bae often traveled the highways with his Pastor Charles Sims and First Lady Fannie Sims. They both loved their church and supported it with excitement and humility. Arthur Lee was a family man, always enjoying the company of his neighborhood, community friends, and extended families that he grew to love while working with his wife at Miss Susie's Daycare.
These relationships were everlasting and cherished. Simply put, he was Papa to so many children and families.
After a long battle with an illness, Arthur Lee transitioned peacefully into the arms of his Lord on Friday, April 26, 2024 where he once again would be with his Sugar Bae, his parents, his brothers, James Davis, Henry Jackson, Earnest Davis, and Ruby Davis Jr., his sisters, Mary Lee Davis, Joyce Lee, Bessie Holland, Ernestine Hancock Gist, Alice Robinson, and Frances Anderson, and also a special stepson and best friend Junior Nathaniel Hiter.
Arthur Lee is survived by his two sons, Arthur Lee Davis Jr. (Lee Lee) of Louisa, VA, and Quantin Anthony Davis (Q) of Fluvanna, VA, along with stepsons Clarence, Henry, Bobby, and stepdaughter Florence Ann, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
To know Arthur Lee is to know that he "loved hard, loved soft, and loved emotionally." Rest in Peace, our dear Arthur Lee . "You now have sight to see your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You can now walk through those pearly gates where Jesus is waiting to receive your heavenly crown."
