The family would like to invite you to join via live stream to celebrate the life of Mrs. Areatha Renay Grooms

Funeral services starts at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2020.

Areatha "Renay" Grooms was born to the union of the late Lola Mealy Quarles and Prentiss Quarles.  She made her debut into the world on November 20, 1945.

Renay accepted Christ at an early age, affiliating with the Zion Travelers Baptist Church.  She was a faithful member and worked diligently in the church.  Once her health declined, it prevented her from attending regularly.  She served on the Cuisine Committee for many years.

She attended A. G. Richardson High School.  She worked at Louisa Manufacturing and Woolfolk Manufacturing and also did private duty caregiving.  In addition, she was a babysitter for many family members and friends.

Renay was preceded in death by her grandson, Johnathan Farrar; sister, Valerie Quarles; and companion, Junie Grooms.  She leaves to cherish her loving memories:  daughters, Fatina Grooms & Cassandra Grooms; son, Keith Quarles;  sister, Ruby Epps;  brothers, Curtis Quarles, Langston Quarles (Frances), and Tyrone Quarles (Fay); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;  aunt, Maureen Athy; uncles, Warren Mealy and Linbergh Mealy; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2020 at The Sun Chapel D. D. Watson, Louisa with Rev. Austin G Bates officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Travelers baptist Church Cemetery 3662 Roundabout Road Louisa, Virginia 23093.
