Archie Lee Hunter, entered this earthly home on October 9, 1956 in Louisa County, Virginia. Archie was born to the late Ralph Houchens and Edith Hunter. Archie transitioned to begin his eternal rest on April 29, 2026 at Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville.

During the pastoral leadership of Reverend John Tyler, Archie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized and joined with the membership of the Rising Sun Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Louisa County and was loved by all who knew him.

Archie was a great fan of football and for him there was no team greater than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Archie retired from Tri-Dim Manufacturing.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Lester, Charles, Alberta, and Shirley and numerous other relatives.

Left to continue this journey and to cherish Archie’s precious memories are his children: Ashley Shelton, Melvin Jones (Literia), and Marvin Jones; his granddaughters: Vamiya Shelton and LaDella Jones; his sisters: Alice Mitchell, Rebecca Wood (Vernon), Elizabeth Johnson (Larry), Florine Jackson, and Roberta Hunter; one aunt: Bertha Davis Houchens; a special friend: Gloria Hackney; his best friend: Steve Hunter, and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Though your smile and your sweet Spirit are gone forever and Your hand we cannot touch, We will always have sweet Memories of you, the one We love so very much.

To the Hunter family, we at D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.

It is during such times as these that we draw upon our faith, stand upon our scriptures, and rely upon our God. There is no question that in this and through this, God will keep you, comfort you, and sustain you. You and your family are forever in our prayers.
