April Louise Wilson, 85, of Louisa County, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Laurels Nursing Home in Charlolottesville, Virginia. The daughter of the late Thurston and Exie Wilson, she was born on April 13, 1927, in Frederick, Maryland.
Affectionately known to family and friends as "Weezie", she was also preceded in death by one sister, Hazel W. Brookens and four brothers, John, Marcel, Paul and Clifton Wilson.
"Weezie" received her education from the public schools of Washington, D. C. where she developed skills that enriched her early and later life greatly.
At an early age, she joined the First Baptist Church in Washington, where she served faithfully for many years. Later, she moved to Louisa and joined the First Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend George N. West. Her faithfulness continued as she became an active member of the Ever Ready Club, the Missionary Society and the Senior Choir. With a special love for children, "Miss Weezie" became "church mother" to many First Baptist children, assisting their parents with their care and training.
She will be remembered as a true servant of God and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
April Louise leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Vicki Smith of Centerville, VA; a grandson, Shealon Smith, also of Centerville; one sister, Thelma R. Wilson of Louisa; one nephew, Jerome Wilson of Louisa; two godsons, Michael Smith of Richmond and Thomas Mason of Louisa; two dear first cousins, Virginia and Barbara Wilson of Dickerson, MD and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday, July 20, at 10:30 AM. A public viewing will take place one hour prior to Friday's service and on Thursday, July 19th, from 2 PM to 7 PM at the Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel.
