Annie Mae Saunders, 76, of Louisa, VA entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at UVA Medical Center Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born September 16, 1940 to the late Versie and Emmett Smith. Annie was educated in the Louisa County Public School System and was a member of Union Baptist Church. Annie was a homemaker who loved her family unconditionally.
Annie was predeceased in death by her husband of 54 years, Rhoderick Saunders, Sr.; her son, Carl Saunders; her parents, Versie and Emmett Smith; sister, Hannah Morris; brothers, Lewis and Al Smith; two nephews, Micheal and Lloyd Smith; sister-in-law, Louise Smith and brother-in-law, Richard Buckner, Sr.
She leaves behind beautiful memories with her children: Rose Saunders, Annie Saunders, Gloria Saunders(Thomas Holliday), Laverne Saunders(Vernon Hembry, Jr.,), Roderick(Sonia)Saunders, Allen(Sheila) Saunders, Roger(Pearl) Saunders; one sister, Teresa Buckner; two brothers, Emmett(Vanessa) Smith and Roylee Smith(Louise Willis); sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; one devoted family friend of many years, Lorraine Jackson; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends and also one special furry companion, Tiny.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at The Sun Chapel, D. D. Watson, Louisa, with Rev. Terry Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Wayland Baptist Church Cemetery.
