Anne Helen Shuck passed away peacefully at Amerisist in Louisa, VA on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was one of the three children born to the late George and Rosie Kretow.
Anne was born on April 23, 1919. She graduated from Sunbury HS in PA. She had plan to become a nurse but found that the sight of blood was not favorable.
Anne's diverse skills lead her to various jobs. She had a very detailed job working for a company, Shipman. She made parts for rockets and used a micrometer for her detailed work. She also was the first woman to work at the Sunbury Post Office as a carrier. She had to lift 50 lbs , which led her to take a job as a secretary for the department of health. She retired after 30 years from that position in 1991.
Anne was married to Kenneth A Shuck for nearly 50 years. He died on June 1, 1991. They had two children, Michael Shuck and Barbara Kempf, who currently live in Virginia. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Amy March, Michael and Ryan Shuck. She also has 3 great grandchildren, Andrew, William and Megan Shuck.
Anne enjoyed traveling with her husband. They visited many states and overseas countries. Their favorite vacation was Hawaii. This is where her ashes will be spread to join her husband's.
Anne was preceded in death by her two brothers, Michael and John Kretow.
Anne was a kind person and generous soul and will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 in The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson Louisa.
