Anita Mary Arnett, 97, entered into enternal rest on Monday, February 12, 2007 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Anita was born in Washington, D.C. on August 11, 1909 to the late Maggie Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Arnett, a daughter, Mary Ann and two sons, Thomas Edison and James William Arnett. Anita was a long time member of First Baptist Church. She was the caregiver of six children of the late J.S. and Bessie Purcell. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter-in-law, Evvie Arnett Ragland(George), her caregiver of 14 1/2 years; granddaughters, Hossane Arnett Adams (Fred), Minster Twanda Barber (Dedric), Besty Purcell and Patsy Hatchett (Barry); grandsons, Richard Arnett, Marvin Arnett (Sharon), Bennie Ragland, John Jerl Purcell (Pat), Dicky Pucell (Brenda), Hal Purcell (Anita), Charles Purcell (Janet) and Jake Alexander; 29 great grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church, 102 Meadow Avenue Louisa, Virginia 23093. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 16, 2007 at First Baptist Church Louisa. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Wooden, Jr., officiating.
