On Thursday, December 7, 2023, at his home, Deacon Amon Comfort, Sr., was called to his heavenly home to be with the Lord. Amon, affectionately known as "Amos" was born to the late Thomas and Annie Comfort. He was one of thirteen children. He was baptized at an early age at the Branch Fork Baptist Church where he began his Christian journey.

In the 1955 he and his family and moved to Alexandria, VA. Upon arriving in Alexandria, he joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, Usher Board, and taught Sunday School. He was a faithful and dedicated member until he returned to his home roots and to his beloved Branch Fork Baptist Church in 2002.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Dora; his children, Amon Jr, Franklin (Shirley), Beverly (Chon) and Brenda. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Eleanor Johnson, Jean Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Deacon Comfort was well known, loved, and respected in the community and was a true "Man of God."

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Temple of Deliverance 5756 Zachary Taylor Highway Mineral, with Elder Donnell Comfort, Sr., officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Branch Fork Church Cemetery.
