Alma Jane Mickens, 84, of Bumpass, Virginia was called home by the lord to be forever, and amid profound peace on May 3rd, 2021. Alma was born May 31, 1936 to the late Luther Horton and Cordie Fox of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Mickens, six brothers Philip Horton, James Horton, Henry Horton, Luther Horton Jr, Frank Horton, Lloyd Horton, and Herbert Horton of Louisa Virginia, and three sisters Wilma May Johnson of Louisa Virginia, Gladys May Isaac of Richmond Virginia, and Pauline Fleming of Spotsylvania Virginia. She Is now reunited with all ten of of her siblings. Alma attended Louisa schools and worked as a housekeeper.

Alma was a devoted woman of faith; she became a Christian early in life. She was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church at an early age, she loved the lord, and she praised the lord throughout her life. She loved family, she enjoyed cooking and enjoyed cookouts. She also loved music and dancing, and she so loved people and children more than anything.

Alma's presence will be missed, and her memories cherished by all her friends and family. She leaves her beloved daughter's Jeneva Mickens, Cathleen Mickens, Roberta Allen (Lee Allen), Cassandra Price, Margaret Price (Grayling Price), Josephine Mickens, and a beloved son William Mickens (Debbie Mickens). She also leaves a host of 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, much love nieces and nephews, cousins and friends She left a devoted granddaughter Janice Price, and a special friend Charles Henry Woodford of Bumpass, Virginia.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery 7652 Kentucky Spring Road Mineral, Virginia 23117, with Rev. Barry Carpenter officiating.
