Deacon Allen Lee Brown III departed this life Friday, March 15, 2013 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia after a brief illness. "Juke" as many called him, was born on April 26, 1957 to the late Allen Brown II and Margaret Louise Scott in Caroline County.

He graduated from Ladysmith High School in 1976, Caroline County. He was active in sports, playing football, basketball and running track.

Allen accepted Christ at an early age and he joined Beulah Baptist Church, Spotsylvania, Virginia. After marrying his wife Avis, he moved to Louisa County and became a member of Wayland Baptist Church, where he served on the choir and as the sexton. Later he became a deacon (2001) and was grounds keeper until his death. Allen was happy to serve the Lord and loved to help people.

He worked for Shockey Enterprises Inc, as a crane operator. He had a small landscape business for which he served the public in Louisa, Caroline, and Fluvanna Counties.

Allen was easy going, a loving father, and husband. He was quiet, but would occasionally put his foot down and all would stop and listen. He was a friend to all who knew him.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Allen enjoyed collecting and refurbishing old trucks and lawn mowers. He was a true outdoorsman, always active doing something.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Avis M. Brown; son, Allen G. Brown (Tiffany) of Caroline, VA, and step-son, Kevin L. Anderson of Richmond, VA; two step daughters, April Anderson of Richmond, VA and Wanda Harris of Caroline, VA; his mother, Margaret Brown of Caroline VA; four sisters, Marilyn, Vernessa and Lola Brown of Caroline, VA and Angie Smith (Keith) of Partlow, VA; three brothers, Melvin, Kevin, and Ronnie Smith; two granddaughters, Aaliyah and Atlanta of Caroline, VA; father and mother-in-law, Dr. George W. and Sadie McLaughlin of Louisa, VA; three aunts, one uncle and a host of other relatives and friends. He also leaves Spike, his beloved hunting dog and companion.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, March 22, 2013 at Wayland Baptist Church 1228 Oakland Road, Louisa, VA with the Rev. Frances Lewis officiating and the Rev. Otis Kay as the eulogist. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
