In Loving Memory of Alice Rebecca Pendleton Morris 

Alice Rebecca Pendleton Morris was born to George and Victoria Pendleton (Clark) in Louisa,Virginia,on October 4, 1931. Alice was the youngest daughter and grew up with her family on the family farm at Rt. 4, Box 16, Yanceyville Road, Louisa, Virginia. She attended Louisa Training School, becoming the first in her family to graduate.

After graduating, she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with some of her siblings for a time, then returned to Louisa, Virginia. On October 13, 1951, she married the love of her life, George Morris, from Mineral, Virginia. As the couple often told the story, a teacher once asked what Alice was staring at out the window. Alice’s friend replied, “She’s not looking out the window; she is staring at George Morris!”George served in the Army while Alice lived with her in-laws, Thomas Henry and Gladys Morris. When she became pregnant with her first child, Deborah Anne, she returned home to live with her father, mother, and youngest brother, Henry Pendleton.

After the unfortunate death of younger brother Henry, her older brothers and sisters, who were still in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for work, felt it was best for Alice to move to Philadelphia. Her older sister, Mildred, returned to Louisa to help care for their parents and the farm. When George left the Army, he and Alice established a home in Philadelphia, where they welcomed two more children, George Harry Jr. (Bobo) and Alice Victoria (Vikki). The couple also worked at the Nabisco Company until retiring in 1990 and 1993. They then moved back to Louisa to enjoy the rest of their lives traveling to casinos, visiting family members, going to church, and spending time with their grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her father, George Pendleton; her mother, Victoria Pendleton; her brothers, Floyd, Henry, Harry, Robert, William, and George Jr.; and her sisters, Martha and Mary Lee (Susie). She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Morris Sr.; their three children,Deborah (Debbie), George Jr. (Bobo), and Victoria (Vikki); her grandson, Jeffrey Griffin Jr.; her nieces,Barbara Bishop, Lucy, and Ida Mae Waddy; and her nephews, Lamont Pendleton, Norman Pendleton and Joe Johnson (Little Joe).

Alice is survived by her grandson, Paul Jones Jr. (Buster); her granddaughters, Melody Poindexter, Nikita (Nikki) Morris, Keisha Sanchez-Morris, and Alice (Little Alice) Griffin-Burley; and her great-grandchildren, Angel Amfo, Abigail Amfo, Benjamin Amfo, EJ Amfo, and Jocelyn Sanchez-Morris. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Johnson; her niece Kay; nephew Cliff Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
