Alice Marie Johnson , aged 95, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, at Henrico Doctors Hospital. Alice was born on March 11, 1929, in Bumpass, VA, to the late Mary Ethel Williams and Charlie Williams. Alice lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Johnson Sr.; her brothers, Bert, Marvin, and Fred Williams; her sisters, Lucille Moody, Martha Coleman, and Mary Perkins; her daughter, Carolyn Mason; and her son, David Johnson.
Alice accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age as a member of the Mt. Garland Baptist Church, Bumpass, VA. She attended church regularly until her health failed. She attended school at AG Richardson and worked as a caretaker. She was married to James Johnson in 1954, and together they built a large and loving family. Alice loved taking care of her large family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid cook, and Sunday dinners at her home were always filled with family and friends. She would spend many of her days listening to her favorite soap operas and gospel music.
Alice is survived by her sister, Addie Medina; her children, Carroll Williams, James Johnson Jr. (Irish), Charles Johnson, Mary Jackson ( William Sr.), Charmaine Shelton, Alice Flowers ( Kenny), Monica Johnson (Archie), Gregory Johnson (Rita), and Greta Jackson (Antwon); her stepsons, Antonio Johnson (Molly), and James Johnson. She also leaves behind twenty-eight grandchildren: Floyd, William Jr., Kevin, Kool, Carlos, Craig, Sly, Atari, Abraham Jr., Kiandra, Courtney, Tarika, Elaina, Shajuana, La'Tesha, Drashawn, Cedric, Ciara, Sasha, Sade, Ladonna, Arroka, Keisha, Christine, AnTonya, Jennifer, Shanta, Renee, Leslie, Cornita and forty-four great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.
Two devoted friends Oneida Johnson and the late Elizabeth Coleman (Beth).
Alice's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
