When the time comes to bid this life farewell, we should find comfort in knowing that a loving God will be there with us to guide us to our new home.
Alice Lucille Johnson Brown departed this life for her new home on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
She was born on June 17, 1937 to the late Earnest and Alice Johnson in Fredericks Hall, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Brown Jr. Three brothers, Robert, Early, and James Johnson. Three sisters, Mary Waller, Martha Jackson, and Lillie Mae Johnson.
She was a devoted member of the True Apostolic Church which she loved dearly. Her church affiliations included the church and Sunday School Secretary, president of the missionaries, member of the hospitality committee, and the overseer of the fellowship hall. Alice also served as an usher until she could no longer stand for a long time. She was educated at the Louisa Training School in Louisa, Va.
Alice started doing domestic work at twelve years old, staying in the home and going to school. She worked several jobs, the longest one was thirty-two and one half years at Louisa Manufacturing Company. Her last job was at New Bridge Market where she worked in the deli.
Alice would do whatever she could to help someone. Always willing to give. Her hobby was baking her cakes and pies. She lived a life devoted to a pattern of good works, her faith in Christ and unselfish service, and never boasted about what she did. She loved her family and her church family.
She leaves to cherish her memory that will bless and enrich them forever, two devoted children: Peggy Silver (Lewis), Franklin Johnson (Shirley). Seven loving grand children: Daron Johnson, Quentin Silver (Torese), Sherrell Hall (Kendrick), Iris Silver, Resa Lewis (Jamie), Michelle Johnson and Victoria Johnson. Eleven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; Two devoted sisters, Shirley Hunter (Herbert) and Thelma Leonard (Jerome);
One sister in-law, Dorothy Brown of Cedon, Va.; brother in-laws Spencer Jackson and Wiley, DC.; a host of nieces, nephews, one devoted nephew that really looked out for her - Charles Jackson, and friends.
To the Brown family, we at D. D. Watson offer our most sincere sympathy and condolences. Our prayer continues to be that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
It is during such times as these that we draw upon our faith, stand upon our scriptures and rely upon our God. There is no question that in this and through this, God will keep you, comfort you and sustain you. You and your family are forever in our prayers.
