Alberta Lee Hunter departed this life on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 3:45 PM at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Henrico, Virginia.
Alberta was born July 8, 1954 to the late Edith Hunter and the late Ralph Houchens. She was educated in the Louisa County Public School System.
Alberta joined the Rising Sun Baptist Church at an early age, where she attended regularly. She was a loving and caring person who never met a stranger. Her laughter and smiling face was always warm and comforting – everyone loved being in her presence.
Alberta was employed for a number of years by Sacra Restaurant – Mineral, VA and she also provided care for her uncle and aunt, Herbert and Marie Thomasson until their passing. More recently, Alberta was employed by the Louisa County Public Schools for many years until her death.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Florine Hunter; her paternal grandparents, Eugene and Elizabeth Houchens; a brother, Lester Hunter; two nephews, Vincent Wood and Ken Hunter; a great-niece, Lavon Johnson; and one great great-nephew, Gary Wood.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories five sisters: Alice Mitchell (Norman), Rebecca Wood (Vernon), Elizabeth Johnson (Larry), Florine Jackson, and Roberta Hunter – all of Mineral, VA; two brothers: Charles and Archie – both of Louisa, VA; eight nieces; eleven nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews; four aunts: Bertha D. Houchens, Alberta Houchens, and Hannah Hunter – all of Mineral, VA; and Dorothy Henson of Louisa, VA; and one sister-in-law Lagretta Hunter, a host of other relatives and friends. Alberta had so many special friends and co-workers – too numerous to name – as she loved everyone she came in contact with.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Rising Sun Baptist Church, with the Reverend Walter Pleasants, Jr., officiating.
